What the gurus are saying

PDO threads carry risks of permanent denting, dimpling, migration, and asymmetry, especially on thin neck skin where barbs may be visible. Gurus reviewing them are skeptical, noting the competency gap when people cut costs or attempt DIY injection. When done by an expert, results can follow, but the stakes are high if something goes wrong, so passing on may be wise unless you have a very experienced injector.

"PDO threads are barbed threads inserted under the skin that tether and hook the skin to lift it, creating a matrix of collagen around the thread as it dissolves. Do I like them? No, I do not, because you can get a permanent dent, I have seen it happen to someone. On neck skin, which is so thin, you can also see the barb, and there is a risk of dimpling, migration and asymmetry unless you are with a very experienced injector."

"Threads, often called PDO threads, are one of three types of sutures commonly used in lift thread procedures. They're made from polydioxanone and polycaprolactone, and these threads can be beneficial for the skin, some of them include hyaluronic acid. It's a tiny little thing that's injected or pushed through your skin into the subcutaneous layer, and it's supposed to dissolve over the course of six to twelve months, and where it dissolves is a slight injury that results in [...] collagen. I love collagen, I just don't know if I can do this. Some of these threads are cogged, some are barbed, to either produce more injury. A lot of times they're called [...] surgery free face lifts or non-surgical face lifts. I was reading a website a couple months ago and I'm like, wow, non-surgical face lift, this sounds so much easier, in and out in an hour, and now that I'm reading this, this is probably what they were doing. For the people it works for it probably is great, but it makes me nervous thinking about it, because a lot of people do this stuff themselves. It's just not worth saving even if it's a couple hundred dollars, even if it's $1,000, it's not worth saving on, because when it's done right, probably ninety-nine percent of the time it's great, and then if it goes wrong, it can go wrong very badly."
